First dates are exciting and awkward. You want to make a good first impression. You dress your best and put on your best smiley face, but no matter how much effort you put into yourself, sometimes it’s the words that get spoken that ruin the whole first date.

1 Talk About Your Ex
For the love of God and everything holy, please don’t do this. Your date probably doesn’t care how your ex wronged you or all the terrible things she did as a person. You’re not perfect either; besides, there are 2 sides to every story.

Seriously. Don’t be rude to anyone, really but the waiter? Come on. They’re just trying to do their job. Show a little respect. If you’re rude to the waiter, you’re not a nice person. Period.

Hey, listen. I understand that first dates are nerve-wracking and overwhelming and maybe a drink before might help, but to show up drunk? Oy. Please don’t. What a way to make a bad first impression.
5 Lie About Anything
What the heck? Why would you even think about doing that? The truth eventually comes out. Once a liar, always a liar, and we all know a liar can never be trusted. So much for integrity.
6 Trash Talk the People in Your Life
The cringe factor for this one is pretty high. When you start trash-talking people, it’s a huge turnoff. First dates are supposed to be fun and a great way to get to know each other, not talk crap about everyone else. Ew.
7 Check Your Cell Phone All the Time
If I’m boring and you aren’t enjoying your time with me, just say so—no need to be rude. Being on your phone while you’re on your first date or any date for that matter, is totally disrespectful and says a lot about you.
8 Check Out Other Women
You’re kidding, right? Or maybe you didn’t think I would notice you staring at that other woman. Seriously, how rude can you be? Did you forget that you are on a first date, and the woman across from you has feelings? Oy.
9 Don’t Get Too Touchy Feely
Whoa, babe, back up. We just met, and I’m still not even sure I like you. Don’t presume it’s ok to try and kiss me or touch me. Let’s get to know each other a wee bit more first, ok?
10 Compare Me to Your Ex
Don’t you even dare. I swear to God. If you are not over ex, just be honest about it and maybe stop dating until you are ready but listen, I am not your ex. I am me. Comparing me to your ex is disrespectful and rude. Go fix yourself.
