15 Reasons Women Over 50 Would Rather Be Alone

It seems lately, more and more women over 50 who are divorced are choosing to stay alone and single rather than date again or remarry. Many women have been abused, betrayed, disrespected, neglected, and so much more by their previous partners that they would rather not go through all that again.

Can you blame them? Who on earth would want to go through all that torment again? Not I.

Here are 15 reasons why women over 50 would rather be alone.

Freedom

Top of the list is freedom. Freedom to do what she wants, when she wants, and not have to ask or answer to anyone ever again. Many women sacrifice their freedom and independence when they’re in a relationship. Never again! All the reasons listed below encompass this freedom that she wouldn’t trade for anything.

She Can Watch Whatever She wants on TV

No sharing the remote control, no arguing over what shows to watch – ah, the bliss. She can pause when she wants, sprawl out on the couch, and turn up or down the volume the way she wants. All hers.

Cook For Herself

She can cook what she wants, when she wants, how spicy or sweet she wants, and eat it all or give it to the dog if she wants. Heck, she can even have Fruit Loops for dinner if she wants. No more asking, “What do you want for dinner tonight”? She’ll make whatever she darn well pleases!

The Whole Bed to Herself

Oh ya!! This should really be listed as number one! The whole bed. No pulling blankets, no listening to snoring other than her own, no disturbing her peaceful sleep anymore by random kicks. The bed is all hers!

Quiet Time

She can now have all the quiet time she wants with 0 disruptions. Whether she wants to sit on the couch and journal or grab a spot on the floor for some deep breathing, the space is all hers now to do as she pleases, when she pleases.

Random Dating or Not

If she feels like dating and having more unique experiences, she can. If she doesn’t feel like dating or being intimate, she doesn’t have to do that either. If she dates a new guy and he’s a loser, she can just leave. The possibilities and choices are endless!

Solo Travel

She can pick up and go traveling alone whenever she wants. She gets to pick the destination, what to pick, etc. and then she gets to enjoy her trip by herself too! No arguing over itinerary, directions, or anything for that matter.

Go Out With Friends Whenever

She can pick up and go out with her friends whenever she feels like it without having to ask permission or need to be home at a certain time because someone is waiting for her at home. Heck, she can stay out all night if she feels like it without the guilt!

No Dealing With Step-children

While kids and family are great, sometimes blending families is a disaster. If they don’t like you or you don’t like them when you first meet, nothing will change that, and it can be tough. Now, she doesn’t have to deal with someone else’s kids, nor do they have to deal with hers!

Financial Independence

She can buy what she wants, when she wants, without having to get approval from anyone about the price, colour, etc. Or she can not buy something if she doesn’t want or need it. Her money is her own and she can do with it as she pleases.

Focus on Personal Growth and Self-Improvement

Women’s personal space is important for many reasons but one main reason is for personal growth and development. It’s hard to work on self-improvement when you share a space with a partner. She can work on herself without interruptions.

Peace and Quiet

Ah, peace and quiet. Isn’t that what we all want? No one talking while you enjoy your morning coffee. No one bothering you while you’re listening to music or reading a book. No one talking. Period. At all. Pure bliss.

She Has Her Own Interests

She has all her own personal interests and hobbies that she can enjoy whenever she wants without having to ask permission or worry that she’s leaving her partner home alone. Whether it be painting, volunteering, or Bible study.

Religious Beliefs

She no longer has to worry about whether or not her beliefs will be mocked or argued about. If she believes in God or the Great White Pumpkin, her beliefs are her own, and she doesn’t have to justify them to anyone. If she wants to go to Church every day and give 10% of her money to God, she doesn’t have to argue with anyone about that either.

Political Views

Need I say more? There’s one thing people don’t budge on and that’s their political views. And they’re extremely passionate about their views, too! No more fighting over who the next president is or the crappy job the current president is doing.
