How to Be a Successful Woman-8 Fempreneurs Share Their Secrets

Pinterest Hidden Image

Do you ever sit and wonder how highly successful women got that way? Were they born with success in their blood? Who did they have to kill to be successful? I asked 7 fempreneurs if they could share their secrets on how to be a successful woman.

Apparently they didn’t have to sacrifice anyone.

I love reading blogs about how women went from rags to riches or how they hit rock bottom and climbed their way to the top, often alone (which ironically happens to be my story).

These stories inspire the heck out of me.

In the last 5 years I’ve had the good fortune of meeting so many highly successful women. I truly feel blessed to have them in my life. They have empowered and motivated me beyond words.

So what is the true meaning of success?

Success means a lot of different things to different people. For some it could be simply getting out of bed and making it through the entire day without a mental breakdown. For others it could be hitting a certain monthly financial goal.

The true meaning of success, according to Google is this:

  • the accomplishment of an aim or purpose.
  • the attainment of popularity or profit.
  • a person or thing that achieves desired aims or attains prosperity.

But for me, success isn’t about money or fame. It’s about pushing myself beyond what I think are my limits and reaching a goal I thought unattainable. You see, I grew up filled with limiting beliefs plugged into me as a child.

I was never good enough or smart enough. Who else gets me? I was raised always thinking I was a failure and a disappointment to the family.

So when I set my mind on doing something and I get it done, that to me is true success.

What does success mean to you?

You know, so many of us are actually afraid of success because we’ve never had it and don’t know what it feels like. But as I mentioned above, success isn’t just about how much money you make or how much power you have at work.

There is so much more to success than that.

So what does success mean to you?

Is it about having a big huge bank account? That’s cool!! Nothing wrong with that at all.

Or maybe it’s about running a 5K marathon and making it to the finish in the top 20.

How about just learning something new, applying it and mastering it? It could be something simple like learning how to french braid hair or understanding code on WordPress.

Success can mean a myriad of things!!

The successful business women in my life

I honestly don’t think I would be where I am today without all the successful business women in my life. I started as a wee tiny blogger not knowing what the heck I was doing. Figuring it out on my own because I didn’t even know there was a huge network of other bloggers on the planet. Weird, I know.

I joined Facebook groups and started connecting with some of the most amazing women on the planet. Some have become very dear friends. The list below includes 7 of these beautiful women. I am so blessed to have them in my life, for real.

I reached out to these women to share their advice on how to be a successful woman because they all truly inspire me. I’ve also included my own secret on what I think it takes to be a success. Following their secrets I’ve included some awesome successful women quotes because I feel there is a lot of power in them.

Debbie Gartner-The Flooring Girl

I met Debbie in the Blogger Education Network Facebook group and she’s a no BS kinda gal. She’s smart as a whip and very helpful all the time. I recently purchased her book Easy On Page SEO and it’s totally rocked my world. By applying the tips she teaches in this book I was able to get a new blog right on the top of Google. Ya baby! Her book is that good!!

Here is what she said about how to be a successful woman

My best tip is to figure out your most productive time of day (or times of day) and then be sure to do your most important work then (or the one that uses the most brain power). Be sure to do this every working day. For me, my super productivity window is 10-11:30 am.

I make sure to take at least 1 break in there. If I’m on a roll, I’ll go over that time by 15 mins or so…and then, it’s time to start making lunch (yay).

Debbie Gartner runs a successful home decor blog at TheFlooringGirl.com. She’s been blogging since 2010 and has leveraged the power of SEO to get over 500,000 pageviews/month and strong affiliate sales to generate over $20,000 net profit a month. She has leveraged her blog income to pay off more than $175,000 of debt. She shares her income reports with her email list.

Barrie Burgess DavenportLive Bold and Bloom

I met Barrie when I first began my online journey. She’s so sincere and amazing.

Here is her tip on success

To be a successful woman, you need to continue to invest in yourself — in your education, building your skill set and knowledge base, and also managing your self-care. The world is changing so rapidly, and success requires that we are adaptable and nimble. At the same time, we need to balance those demands with our personal priorities and relationships.

Barrie Davenport is a best selling author of over 25 self-improvement books and is the founder of Live Bold and Bloom, a top-ranked personal development site. She is co-founder of Authority.Pub, a platform devoted to helping people learn to write and publish their books.

Leticia Rae–Leticia Rae

I met Leticia in the same group I met Barrie in and she’s just a doll. Warm, sweet and loving. I’ve watched her grow and she continues to inspire me.

This is what she had to say about being a successful woman

For me the best way to be successful is to believe in our own abilities and to be grateful for everything we have while striving for more. We often think that success is attained in the future, but I’ve learned that it’s something we tune into in the present, no matter where we are in our journey. We tune in with Gratitude.

Leticia Rae was a single mother who quit her job to not only start her own business, but to create the life she dreamed of. She dedicates her free time to inspiring positivity, hope and change through her social media platforms and website.

Tracie Fobes – Tracie Fobes

Oh how I adore this woman. Tracie has taught me so much about blogging and everything to do with running a successful website. I’ve taken several of her courses and my business has grown leaps and bounds because of them. Here are a few I’ve taken:

Here is what Tracie says about being successful

My tip is focus on what you can control. You can’t control social media or what others are doing. But, you can control putting out a new post, promoting yourself, being engaging and helpful. Success is more than numbers – it is the way you feel within and how you help support and build up others.

Tracie has been blogging since 2009. She started her first site to help families learn to budget, get out of debt and save money. In 2019 she sold that site for six figures! She now teaches others how to start and maintain a profitable blog through her coaching, courses and email newsletter.

Elle Sommer- Live Purposefully Now

I met Elle along with Barrie and Leticia and actually had the pleasure of meeting her in person. She’s so loving and kind. Whenever I need a motivational or self confidence boost she’s my go to girl!

Elle had this to say about being a highly successful woman

My tip would be ‘persist’ – never look at something as though you’d failed three times, but that you tried and persisted three times. Eventually you will look over your shoulder and see you’ve climbed a mountain.

Amber Temerity- Amber Lozzi

Love love love this girl!! I actually hired her to take care of my Pinterest account (after firing 3 other VA’s!!). I trust her with my life and my business. She’s smart, honest and patient.

Here is what Amber had to say about success

We may not all have the same background, education, or privileges, but we do all have the same power within us to bring our dreams to life; you just have to keep pushing forward and trust the Universe wants to see your success.

Amber Temerity Lozzi is an online business consultant who specializes in helping bloggers implement profit-building systems.

Vanessa TorreVanessa Torre

I actually met Vanessa on Medium and then finally in person (virtually) through group Zoom calls. She’s a kick as* balls to the wall kinda girl and I love her to pieces!

Here is Vanessa’s tip on being a success

Never compromise who you are for the sake of temporary gain. No part of your dream in life should ever include giving your self away. Anyone or any organization that seeks to change your being is not for you. Your authenticity is your greatest gift and your integrity is its own reward.

Vanessa is a freelance writer who goes through life like a flaming pinball. Nerd, music lover, horrible violin player. Her work appears on Medium, Business Insider and Mamamia. No, she won’t stop taking pictures of her drinks.

Iva UrsanoWomen Blazing Trails

That’s me! 🙂

My tip on being a successful woman is this:

Push through your fears and embrace challenges. You don’t know if you can do something unless you actually try to do it. Either you win or your learn. You never fail. You must remove the word failure from your vocabulary and embrace new opportunities.

Here’s my brief bio in case you missed it on my About Me Page:

I hit rock bottom back in 2013 and had to claw my way out. After leaving my abusive relationship and declaring bankruptcy I knew something had to change. I absorbed as many blogs/eBooks and YouTube tutorials on how to become a freelance writer and after a year of learning and applying, I resigned from my regular day j.o.b. and became a solopreneur.

Becoming a successful woman requires a poop ton of work

I’ll tell you right now, it’s not for the faint of heart. Many of the women listed above worked their bums off to get to where they are today. We weren’t born with silver spoons in our mouths.

Becoming a successful woman will require:

  • patience
  • perseverance
  • commitment
  • drive
  • and a strong belief in yourself and your abilities

Many people will try to talk you out of your big goal or dream. They mean well, honest they do. They don’t want to see you fail. Some don’t want to see you succeed.

You need to quiet the voices of the nay-sayers and do what feels right in your heart. You may even need to turn off the negative committee in your head. They are trying to tell you things like:

  • You aren’t good enough
  • You aren’t smart enough
  • You don’t know how to do that
  • You are going to fail
  • People will laugh at you
  • You will be a big disappointment

Ya, those voices. Tell them to take a back seat. Better yet, just tell them to shut the hell up. You SO got this!!

Some successful women quotes

Before I close this I want to share some successful women quotes. I have to tell you why.

When I hit rock bottom I not only absorbed self help and educational material, I also read an awful lot of inspirational and motivational quotes. To be honest, they really got me through some of the worst days on my healing journey.

I would read these quotes with passion and make sure the meaning went straight to my heart and soul. I had post it notes all over my house and each one contained an inspirational message.

That’s why I want to share some with you now. My hope, wish and goal is that you take these successful women quotes, read them, write them out, tape them to your coffee machine or your bathroom mirror and feel each and every word.

Do one thing every day that scares you-Eleanor Roosevelt

I want people to walk around delusional about how great they can be – and then to fight so hard for it every day that the lie becomes the truth-Lady Gaga

A successful woman is one who builds a firm foundation from the bricks others have thrown at her.

Behind every successful woman is herself – Bart Jackson

Do something you’re not ready to do. That’s how you grow.

When you truly believe in yourself you will discover that you are unstoppable and the sky is the limit.

More tips on how to be a successful woman

I hope you liked the tips shared above from these 7 highly successful women but I really just want to say one final thing on this.

Doing something new is scary. Dreaming big is scary. Some of our ideas and goals seem really scary. Everything is scary when you are trying to reach a goal or build a business.

But remember something: fear will try to talk you out of doing so much. It’s almost like a defense mechanism but all it really is, is a big fat lie. You can’t let fear stop you from reaching your goals.

Take a big deep breath, pull up your big girl panties and tell yourself this one thing:

“I SO got this!!”
