things men hate about women two fingers with faces on themPin

It’s known that women can be pretty fussy when it comes to choosing a man, but the same can be said for men. They, too, are pretty fussy. It’s not just about looks anymore. Men want more substance in a woman. And then there are some things men hate about women.

If you think it’s because you aren’t pretty enough that you aren’t getting any dates, you’re dead wrong. Your looks have nothing to do with it. Here are 15 things men despise in a woman.

15 things men hate about women

This is my list of the things men hate about women. I’m sure there are probably a hundred more things they hate so if you’re a guy reading this, by all means, please chime in!

We’d love to hear more. Now, this list can also go both ways.

Pretending to Be Someone You’re Not

Flat out fakeness. Men hate it. They appreciate authenticity and honesty. I mean, don’t we all?

Trying too hard to be someone you’re not or pretending to be interested in their likes and dislikes can be disingenuous. If that’s your thing, you will turn off men instantly.

Being Too Needy

Men want to be with women who are confident and independent. While men do like to feel like they are the great protector, they have their limits.

A clingy woman is annoying and exhausting. Being clingy or needy can be a turn-off.

Playing Hard to Get

Listen, we aren’t in high school anymore. We’re adults now. Act like one.

While it may be fun to play hard to get, this can also be frustrating and confusing for men. If you’re interested in someone, just show them you’re interested. Stop wasting people’s time.

Constantly Checking Your Phone

If you’re out on a date with a man and you are constantly on your phone, taking selfies, or texting your friends, your date will eventually get annoyed and bored with you. Not only that, it’s disrespectful.

Being addicted to your phone can give the impression that you’re not fully present or invested in the conversation or date.

Being Judgmental

Let’s face it: being judgmental is a toxic trait, and no one wants to be around anyone who is judging or being critical of others.

Nobody’s perfect, and being overly critical or judgmental of your date or someone you’re interested in can be a huge turn-off.

Poor Hygiene

Good hygiene is a must. Plain and simple. Brush your teeth, comb your hair, put deodorant on – you know, the basics. That isn’t too much to ask for.

No one wants to be around someone who doesn’t care for themselves or, worse yet, smells of b.o. Don’t show up on a date drunk, disheveled, and smelling of booze. You know, common courtesy and respect.

Rude or Disrespectful Behavior

Treating others, including waitstaff or bartenders, poorly is a major turn-off for men (and yes, it’s vice versa for women too). There is no need to be rude or disrespectful to any person or animal, ever. Period.

Being Too Arrogant

Confidence can be attractive, but there’s a fine line between confidence and cockiness. Most adults know that line but cross it anyway.

If you are arrogant and borderline obnoxious about it, chances are, you won’t find a man who will put up with that. It’s not cute. It’s annoying.

Jealousy

Men absolutely despise jealous women. It shows insecurity, immaturity, and lack of self-confidence, among many other toxic traits and red flags.

Jealousy leads to anger and hatred, and no one wants to be in a relationship that sits on shaky grounds because of a jealous partner.

Being Too Emotional

While it’s healthy to express emotions, being overly sensitive or dramatic can be overwhelming and unnecessary. Men really do despise drama queens.

They have no patience for such immaturity, knowing how exhausting it can get.

Putting Pressure on the Relationship

Pressuring a man to commit or move too quickly in a relationship is super annoying. No one likes to be pressured into anything.

When you start putting pressure on someone, it backs them into a corner, and they become defensive. What’s the point of that?

Being Irresponsible

Men really don’t like an irresponsible woman. A lack of responsibility or pointing fingers is a sign of immaturity and will drive men away.

Whether you are always late for dates or appointments, don’t pick up after yourself, or have a less than enthusiastic attitude about your career and life, this is a major turnoff. Who wants to date an immature person?

Lacking Ambition

Ambition and drive are attractive qualities in women and men. Not having goals or ambitions can make it seem like you lack direction and are lazy.

When we don’t have ambition, it shows that we don’t care very much about our lives or our future. Ambitious people are successful people, and those who lack ambition show they don’t take success very seriously.

Being Materialistic

While it’s okay to enjoy nice things, being overly focused on material possessions can be off-putting to men. It only shows that you value things over experiences and human connection.

Anyone who is materialistic is often selfish and greedy, too, and no one likes anyone like that.

Being Loud and Obnoxious

Being the center of attention can be good, but being too loud or boisterous is a major turnoff. It also is a sign of insecurity and a demand for attention.

Often, loud and obnoxious people tend to embarrass others around them. Men despise this character trait.

final thoughts

At the end of the day, we’re all human, and we all have our flaws. While it’s important to take note of these behaviors that men find unattractive, it’s equally important to be true to yourself and comfortable in your own skin.

Remember, not everyone will find you attractive, but the right person will appreciate you for who you are.
