Many women over 50 have noticed that it’s getting harder to stay in shape, and we’re getting a little jiggly in all the wrong places. Today, I want to share 5 super tips to help you get rid of armpit fat (and other fat too!)

As we age, our bodies tend to get softer, fluffier, and weaker; you get the idea. I’ve been an on-again-off-again kind of exerciser that is not doing me any justice now at 60 years old. I’ve noticed I’m getting flabby, I have a muffin top and armpit fat.

It’s not pretty.

So how do we get our bodies back in shape, and how do we get rid of armpit fat? The million-dollar questions.

What Causes Armpit Fat?

It’s important to know that our bodies store fat in ridiculous places, like our armpits (I’d love it if my body stored some fat in my breasts like, come on, seriously!!). I know, weird. It also stores it in our bellies too.

We’re not all really that good at taking care of our bodies and eating right, and our bodies know this.

Not only that, if we understood how our bodies worked, don’t worry, most of us don’t, you’ll know that your outward appearance, how you feel mentally and emotionally, and how you carry and lose weight all depend on what and how you eat.

Think of your body as a car. If you don’t take care of your car and give it regular maintenance and love, it eventually dies. Same with your body. I mean, we’re all gonna die anyway, but we can at least try and live a quality life while we’re here, no?

Sorry, I didn’t really answer that question. Check out this article from Healthline.com for the answer.

Can Armpit Fat Be Lost?

Yes, yes, yes. But it won’t be easy. So many women still think to this day, “Oh well, that’s just the way my body is now that I’m aging.” Nothing is further from the truth. It doesn’t have to be that way.

If you truly want to change your body, lose weight, and be more toned and stronger, you certainly can be. It’s just going to take some serious dedication and commitment on your part. Do you have what it takes?

Are you up for making huge changes to your daily lifestyle, or are you content with how you look and feel now? How bad do you want it, really?

Can Flabby Under Arms Be Toned?

Now some women may have flabby under arms due to a great weight loss. This happens when women have lost a tremendous amount of weight. I have to say, I’m not an expert on this topic, but from what I’ve read and seen, surgery is about the only way to get rid of flabby under arms.

But if you have flabby under arms because, well, you’re fluffy, keep on reading, girl. All the answers are below.

Let’s dive into some of the ways how to remove breast side fat and underarm fat.

How Do You Get Rid of Armpit Fat

Before we get started, it’s important to fill you in on one very important thing. Exercise alone is not going to get rid of armpit fat. Don’t get me wrong, it will help a lot. But there’s more to reducing fat than just exercise alone.

Many of us have ‘fat’ for a few reasons. Obviously, our diet is a huge factor, but that’s not the case for everyone. Some of us just have really slow metabolisms, some of us have thyroid problems that lead to weight gain, and depression also plays a role in weight gain.

There are many other underlying factors that cause weight gain, which makes us ‘fluffy.’ I honestly hate to use the word fat.

Now that we clarified that, here are a few ways to get rid of fat under armpit.

1 Choose healthier food options

Sorry, but diet plays a huge role in fat, whether it be your armpit, back fat, thighs, butt, or belly. It might be time to cut out all sugar and bad carbs. Bad carbs include:

  • bread,
  • pizza,
  • cake,
  • donuts,
  • muffins
  • potato chips
  • cookies
  • pies
  • you get the idea.

Many women have switched to a keto diet and are seeing amazing results. Whatever you decide, choosing a healthier diet is the number one way to get rid of armpit fat.

2 Cardio

If you can, of course, and only once you’ve been cleared by your family doctor. Cardio is a great way to get that heart pumping and burn some calories. And burning calories=weight loss.

Now you don’t have to jog around the block for an hour, I mean, you can if you want, but any kind of cardio will do. Even 30 minutes of brisk walking daily will help tremendously. Call a friend, fill your water bottle, grab some comfy sneakers, and go!

3 Yoga/Pilates

I was never much into yoga or pilates, that is until I turned 60. Everything changed for me after that. I tried yoga and discovered that I actually enjoyed it. It was hard and challenging (and I even started with a beginner’s session!), but boy, did I feel it the next day.

And I felt great. It wasn’t long before I noticed my body getting stronger and more sculpted. Even more trouble spots.

4 Start a workout routine

Some of you may have just groaned. I know you hate going to the gym or working out, but you can do it at home and actually have fun! There are so many free and amazing workouts on YouTube nowadays; you don’t even have to leave your house.

You can order some free weights from Amazon (here’s a nice set!) or even a resistance band which is what I use for home workouts. You can find some good ones here.

Find a good workout routine that includes good arm exercises and follow it; work at your own pace, go slow in the beginning, but stay the course. Exercise alone will not get rid of armpit fat, but it certainly won’t hurt either!

Before you even start moaning, it’s never too late, and you’re never too old to start working out and taking care of your health. Just thought I’d throw that out there.

3 Best Exercises for Arms

Here are my 3 favourite arm exercises to get rid of armpit fat:

  • push-ups
  • tricep dips/extensions, and
  • planks

All of these exercises are relatively easy to do too!

5 Cosmetic surgery

I’ll admit, not my favourite way to get rid of armpit fat, but it works. And if you have the money, why not? I’m no expert in this field by any means, so talk to your doctor and ask him for recommendations.

You can also go online and find good cosmetic surgeons in your area but make sure they have good credentials and just as good reviews. Ask around some women you might know who can recommend a good plastic surgeon.

But if you’re going to go this route, please, for the love of God and everything holy, make sure you find a reputable doctor, not some basement yahoo who charges less than everyone else. There’s a reason why. Please don’t do this.

Many women have liposuction done with great results. Do your research first.

How to get rid of underarm fat quickly

We all want fast results. Instant gratification. Make it all go away now. Unfortunately, things don’t work like that, well, not when it comes to weight loss and spot reduction.

There is no fast and easy way to get rid of underarm fat. It will take time, patience, dedication, and perseverance.

Best Way to Get Rid of Armpit Fat

To be honest, from the above list, I would have to say that the best way to eliminate armpit fat is through diet and exercise. Exercise alone won’t help.

I have to say, though, changing your diet isn’t easy. Giving up foods we love is not fun, but it’s worth it. I mean, how badly do you want to get rid of armpit fat and all the other fluffy parts of your body?

You have to focus on your why. Why are you doing this? Why do you want to do this?

In closing

You can do all the tricep and arm exercises you want to try and reduce your armpit fat, but without following a proper diet, all your efforts will be in vain. I hate when I see sites telling you to “just do 100 of these a day, and your arms will be toned!!!”.

It doesn’t work like that. You have to change your diet. Cut out sugar, stop all the bad carbs, get more fruits, veggies, lean proteins in your body, drink more water, etc. Doing that, along with exercise, is a surefire way to get rid of those flabby arms and even your belly and back fat, once and for all.

Remember, this is your life; you’re in control of all of it. It’s up to you to make changes.
